Reseda Welcomes You
It burned, for sure
and the air conditioner
did nothing to cool
my blushed face.
Just freshly finished
from running-
I hardly had the chance
to catch my breath
when you became
a liability to my heartbeat.
The wings, they fluttered
in every color
I could only imagine
lived in your existence.
How I longed
to be dizzy dazed
in every single little shade.
It’s only a pretty price to pay
to keep you reflected
in my eyes.
You made art out of august,
Did you plan to take me to
The Louvre?
I studied us in gold.
Rushed to paint us in
the sands off the coast
Could this be real?
For once, For love,
For all the scuffs my wheels
left on the pavement.
Dropped the pin on the highway
and drove off.
That’s the day I decided
I was way, way past it.
Perhaps tenderly blind to thrill of lust,
Unrequited desire is just enough
to color my cascading blood,
so once again,
I turn into the canvas,
Now let drip the bristles of august.
Think you could take me there
and write a thesis on it?
Tropical green snakes around us.
The shade is complimentary
to our nature.
Both dignified to stand aside
and giggle about the things we dramatize.
There’s that phone again.
Don’t you know I canceled my plans
just in case you’d call?
Only my drunk shadow knows
of the dress stained with merlot.
Who cares if you’ll never be mine?
I’m your summer singer
living for the hope of it all.
We dance in frozen seconds,
That moment we shared
chilled in time-
like the neon blue of Malibu
crashing against the rocks.
Thank You for Visiting
